Summer Reading Pt 2
While it's not exactly a beach read, more like a Cliff Notes of history, I'm having a great time reading Kenneth C. Davis' "Don't Know Much About History." Like the promos for the book say, "You'll remember how much you forgot about history!" I've already been reminded of:
-Why Brazilians speak Portuguese and the rest of South America speak Spanish.
-Why The US and Canada were nothing more than pawns in a power struggle between European countries in the French and Indian War.
-About 100 other historical facts/happenings...and I'm only 10% into the book!
I might even keep this in the studio for reference when Air Gordon and I get into one of our geeky history talk session. It even came in handy this weekend, as we watched ELIZABETH, THE GOLDEN AGE on pay-per-view. It really filled in the blanks and showed how realistic the movie was in it's depiction of the English staving off the Spanish Inquisition (at least for a while!)
Check out the entire "Don't Know Much About" series here, and have fun remembering what you forgot!
